Most of our cremations take place at West Suffolk Crematorium at Bury St Edmunds, where there is also a large cemetery. Some of our funerals are held at Colchester Crematorium, over the county border in Essex. We can use whichever crematorium is most convenient for you, or that you prefer.
We recommend making an appointment so that you can be sure that our arrangement room is free and you can take the time that you need to make choices and decisions without feeling rushed or hurried. However, you are also welcome to call into our office without an appointment and discuss arrangements, or to telephone your arrangements through to us. We know that it is not always easy to take time off from work, so arrangements can also be made via email or virtual meeting call. We will do all we can to accommodate you. A telephone call is often the starting point and from there we can always advise you.
You can choose whether you deal with a male or female funeral director. We understand that in some cultures, a male is expected, but for many people, the feminine touch of a lady funeral director helps to make the day less stressful. All our funeral directors are professional and compassionate, but our ‘Ladies in Hats’ as we call them, are now well known throughout Essex and Suffolk for the gentle, empathetic way in which they guide families through their most difficult, but precious, day.
