Frequently asked questions in Chelmsford

  • Do you offer Muslim funerals?

We are used to providing funerals which adhere to the traditions and rituals of the Islamic faith, and are very happy to work with you to ensure that all the arrangements are appropriate for your needs. For example, we allow our embalming suite to be used for proper preparation of the body. We also have specially constructed caskets which allow appropriate transportation to the site of burial before interment in a shroud. We’re aware that traditions and rituals may vary according to where in the world your family originates, so we would always advise a conversation between those arranging the funeral and our expert team.

  • Do you do non-religious funerals?

A funeral ceremony does not have to be religious, and we have excellent funeral celebrants who are not religious at all. We will only recommend a funeral celebrant who we know is compassionate, reliable, and good at what they do. The Humanist funeral celebrants we recommend will not include prayers, hymns, or religious readings at all. We also have a number of funeral celebrants who will include some aspects of faith if you request them, such as the Lord’s prayer or a hymn, but will centre the ceremony on your loved one as a celebration of their life. We would suggest you talk to your funeral arranger and allow them to suggest a celebrant, depending on what you want.

  • Do you provide headstones and memorials?

Memorials and headstones are such an important way to remember a loved one for so many families. The Hunnaball Family Funeral Group are one of the few remaining funeral directors to have a specialist department for memorials with specially trained staff and monumental masons. Each of our local branches has information about our memorials and headstones or you can get in touch with our Memorials Department directly. If we did not arrange your loved one’s funeral ceremony we are still very happy to offer our memorial services to you.
