Supporting good causes

As funeral directors, the Hunnaball Family Funeral Group are in a particularly good position to support good causes.

At most funerals, families choose a specific and meaningful charity to receive donations in memory of their loved one. There’s often a donation box at the venue on the day, but we also help them make use of our excellent online donation pages, where people can leave both a donation and a message of condolence.

Our local branches also receive requests for support from local causes who are aware that we try to be as generous and helpful as we can. And, of course, many of our Hunnaball work family members are involved with charities in their daily lives, and we try our best to support them too.

A charity for our business

In recent years we’ve become more aware of the sheer number of good causes. Many, for excellent reasons, approach us and, while we would like to help them all, we can only do so much. In the end, we can either give a little to a great many good causes or we can focus on one or two and give more.

Therefore, as a business that wants to support the community, we’ve decided to adopt a main charity each year and use our work family’s united strength to offer significant support. We will still help other charities and good causes when the need arises, especially locally, but our main efforts will go towards our adopted charity.

The Trussell Trust

For 2022, we’ve chosen the Trussell Trust as our adopted charity. There’s a real growing need in our society among ordinary families, mostly as a result of the pandemic and global fuel prices, and the Trussell Trust is a charity that’s close to the heart of several members of our work family who already support them.

The Trussell Trust support more than 1,200 food bank centres in the UK (including in areas where we have branches). They provide food parcels with a minimum of three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred to them in crisis. Between April 2019 and March 2020, their network of food banks provided a record 1.9 million food supplies to people in crisis, and there is even more need now.

We believe that people shouldn’t have to choose between eating a meal or paying their bills, but it’s an all too common reality in the UK, made worse by the pandemic and rising food prices.

In 2022, the Hunnaball Family Funeral Group is focussing on raising funds and awareness for both the Trussell Trust and local food banks. Our amazing team of compassionate professionals will undertake sponsored events (like bike rides and runs), bake sales, quiz nights, collections, donations… whatever they can do to support this amazing charity.

Our team have already organised a food collection in Chelmsford and, taken part in the Race Against Hunger with a 5k run in the Castle Park, in Colchester (pictured above). Donations can still be given at https://hunnaballheroes.celebrationpage.org

More to come…

There will be more opportunities and events in aid of Trussell Trust in 2022, so please keep an eye on social media. You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
